Rutland Youth Fly Fishing Day - Rutland Water Sunday 22nd July 2012 Never Fished Before? Want to improve your skills? Learn about fly fishing and fly fish from a boat for trout on the famous Rutland Water with an experienced boat handler. The day is based at the Fishing Lodge at Normanton and include activities such as casting tuition, tying knots and leaders, tackle advice, fly tying and fishing advice. You will be taken out after lunch by an experienced adult boat handler either individually or in pairs of matched ability and age. Boats will return to the lodge for a barbeque at 6pm. Includes tackle hire, fishing permit, boat hire, boat handler and the BBQ. All participants will be covered by public liability insurance and will be given free junior membership of Rutland Water Fly Fishers Club worth £6, for the remainder of the year. A fun day for 10 to 17 year olds; learn more about fly fishing and fly fish from a boat for trout on the famous Rutland Water with an experienced boat handler. The day is based at the Fishing Lodge at Normanton and starts with registration at 10am followed by activities such as casting tuition, tying knots and leaders, tackle advice, fly tying and fishing advice. Depending upon the number of participants we may lay on further activities. Participants will be taken out after lunch by an experienced boat handler either individually or in pairs of similar ability and age. Boats will return to the lodge for a barbeque at 6pm. Entry fee £15 – includes tackle hire, fishing permit, boat hire, boat handler and the BBQ. All participants will be covered by public liability insurance and will be given free junior membership of the Rutland Water Fly Fishers club, worth £6, for the remainder of the year. An Environment Agency Rod License is not required. Lunch and refreshments during the day are not provided. For safety reasons participants must wear a life jacket (provided), hat and glasses. It is also advisable to use sun block and to have plenty of liquids to reduce the risk of sunburn and dehydration. All participants need to wear suitable clothing including waterproof outerwear. Numbers are limited to the number of volunteer boat handlers and if the event is over subscribed participants will be decided on the basis of ‘first come first served’.
